Free to look things up. Paid to keep a record.

The Harvard food list is the part you need before you need anything else, so it costs nothing and doesn't ask for an account. Everything that remembers something about you is what you pay for — and on the yearly plan, that's under 11¢ a day.*

About the money

How is it billed?

Through the App Store, on the Apple ID you're already signed in with. Low Ox Life never sees a card number, and there's nothing to set up beyond tapping the plan you want.

What does the yearly price save me?

Starter is $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year*; Pro is $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year*. Either plan can be paid either way, and you can switch between monthly and yearly later.

If the price goes up, does mine?

No. Apple honours the price you subscribed at for as long as you keep that subscription. A later price change applies to new subscribers, not to you — until you change plans yourself.

How do I cancel?

In iOS Settings, under your Apple ID → Subscriptions, or from the App Store app. Cancelling is entirely on Apple's side and takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for. There's no email to send and nobody to ask.

What happens to my journal if I stop paying?

You keep it. You drop back to Free, where the Harvard list still works and you can still read your journal and your lists — you just can't add to them. Resubscribe and you carry on where you left off. You can also export everything as CSV or JSON while you're subscribed, and that file is yours. (An account nobody has opened for a year is removed, after two warnings — see the privacy policy.)

Does the paid version give medical advice?

No — no plan does. Pro reports patterns and associations found in your own record, states their direction and how strong they are, and stops there. It's material to take to your healthcare provider, not a conclusion about you.
